Hotel Near Historic Temple Square

As the seat of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Temple Square hosts numerous points of interest to religious and lay persons alike. As the tourist center point of downtown Salt Lake City, Temple Square has developed into a unique location steeped in history and rich in culture. A trip to SLC and Utah would be incomplete without a visit to the collection of buildings and temples. Must-see sights include Assembly Hall, the Salt Lake Tabernacle, the Family History Library, and Brigham Young Historic Park.
Assembly Hall. Arguably the most colorful of all of Temple Square’s edifices, Assembly Hall dates back to 1877 and is a standout in this collection of buildings. It can be especially enjoyed on Fridays and Saturdays when free concerts are typically held, featuring both local and international artists. For more information, visit www.utah.com/mormon/assembly_hall.htm.  [Top]
Salt Lake Tabernacle. While most have seen it on television, now it can be experienced up-close and personal: The Salt Lake Tabernacle, home to the world-renown Mormon Tabernacle Choir, is a building to appreciate in awe. Its massive organ boasts nearly 12,000 pipes, and its acoustics of the building are an auditory wonder. It is also a beautiful and meditative place. The Choir’s rehearsals are usually free to the public, while their Sunday morning broadcasts may be attended in person. For more information, visit www.utah.com/mormon/tabernacle.htm.  [Top]
